FUNNY FACES

There is nothing better than playing around with some bread dough on a rainy day. All you have to do is to roll your sleeves up and get creative!

Prep time: 20min

Cooking time:10-15min

Makes 8 rolls

1½tsp dried yeast and salt

550g strong white flour

2tsp sugar

2tbsp sunflower oil

raisins or currants to decorate

2tbsp milk or beaten egg

Put the yeast, salt, flour, sugar and oil in a bowl. Add 320ml warm water and with your hands mix them together.

Sprinkle some flour on a workspace, and take the mixture out of the bowl. Start kneading by pressing your fist into the dough, then turn it and do it again. Keep kneading for about 10min, or until the dough is stretchy and not sticky.

Divide the dough into 9 pieces. Roll 8 of the pieces into round face shapes. Use the last piece of dough to make hair, eyes, noses and mouths for your funny faces. Use raisins or currants for eyes.

Place the faces on a greased baking sheet and cover loosely with clingfilm. Leave in a warm place until doubled in size.

Then remove the cling film and brush the faces with milk or beaten egg.

Bake at 220°C for 10-15min or until golden.
